To help owners access upgraded Tesla Superchargers and other NACS DC Fast Chargers, Ford is releasing the Tesla-developed Fast Charging Adapter (NACS), and making them available to owners at no cost until June 30th, 2024.
Ford integrated the Tesla Supercharger network into the BlueOval Charge Network on February 29, 2024. Because Tesla Superchargers utilize a different charging plug design, Ford vehicles will require an adapter to use upgraded Tesla Superchargers, along with other North American Charging Standard (NACS) chargers.
Why would I want to use a fast charging adapter to use on Tesla Superchargers?
Beyond the Blue Oval Charging network currently offered for Ford drivers, this adapter will expand access to more charging stations drivers can utilize to charge their Ford EV.
Who Is Eligible For A Complimentary Fast Charging Adapter?
Retail owners of the following vehicles are eligible to reserve a complimentary Fast Charging Adapter beginning February 29, 2024:
- 2021 – 2024 Mustang Mach-E
- 2022 – 2024 F-150 Lightning
- 2022 – 2024 E-Transit
Ford Pro Fleet customers who own a Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning and/or E-Transit will also be eligible for a complimentary adapter. More details on ordering procedures will be the subject of a future announcement.
Owners must reserve their complimentary adapter by June 30, 2024.
Only one complimentary Fast Charging Adapter may be ordered per VIN.
What Requirements Are Needed To Charge At A Upgraded Tesla Supercharger?
To ensure their Ford vehicle can use a upgraded Tesla Supercharger, owners MUST obtain a compatible NACS adapter, such as the Fast Charging Adapter. To utilize Plug & Charge at upgraded Tesla Superchargers, owners must::
- Enroll in the BlueOval Charge Network (BOCN). Note: All Ford EV owners have access to BOCN, no matter when they bought their vehicle, with no annual fee.
- Mustang Mach-E and F-150 Lightning owners should ensure Automatic Updates are enabled, to allow them to receive “Plug & Charge” at upgraded Tesla Superchargers via an over-the-air update. Vehicles must have received the Tesla Plug & Charge update (Priority Update 24-PU0119-DC-CHG4).
